About
Catherine E. Currie has been practicing criminal law since she was called to the bar of Ontario in 1992.
With a B.A. from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario she had a successful first career in managing technical communications for several large corporations before earning an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law school in Toronto, Ontario. She received her LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000 with a specialty in Criminal Law.
Catherine’s practice is primarily devoted to criminal defense at the trial level. She regularly appears in all the courts in the Greater Toronto Area.
She has a particular interest in representing clients with mental health issues and has a very high success rate in working with clients to have charges stayed or withdrawn through mental health diversion programs.
Catherine represents many clients before the Ontario Review Board and has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice.
Catherine was an instructor for many years in the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Bar Admission Course. She was a member of the Legal Aid Ontario Area Committee for ten years and served on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association.
As for community involvement, Catherine has sat on the Boards of a number of community agencies and foundations.
